The Colossian believers were in danger of being influenced by false teachers who taught that Christ wasn’t enough. They wanted to incorporate their own ideas, based upon other philosophies and religions, into Christianity. Paul prayed that the Colossians would know God’s will for their lives and that they would "walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God."
