World Humanitarian Day is celebrated as a United Nations observance in order to appreciate men helping men. 19th August is chosen for this day as a remembrance  of a great humanitarian Sergio Vieira de Mello, who lost his life in an attack. Humanitarian is an adjective which means concerned with human welfare.
