TEMPORARY NOTES (update coming soon)

This episode takes us back to the office in a conversation with David McKay, Head of Culture and Workspaces at innocent drinks - the little big smoothie and juice company. ‘Little big’ in that - while they’re relatively small for a drinks manufacturer or brand, just shy of 800 employees in 14 locations, they punch way above their weight and managed to maintain the values and outlook of an open and entrepreneurial small company even when 90% owned by Coca-Cola.

The company attained B-Corp status in 2018 and as you’ll hear, they put the health of people, communities and the planet right at the core of what they do. They’re one of the few in the world that is both a billion-dollar brand and certified with over 100 B-Corp points.

I found this conversation really enlightening. True to form and totally living innocent values, David talks candidly about the challenges they faced when trying to marry the ways individuals want to work, with how that impacts space. He shared a really experimental and inclusive approach to figuring out what would work for their colleagues - and the process itself that he describes involved really open and honest communication around the change process. He shares some great examples, so listen out for them.

Finally, we talk the innocent carbon-neutral healthy drinks factory recently opened in Rotterdam - aka ‘The Blender’ - no mean feat designing and implementing that during lockdown…and there’s an open invitation - so innocent - to visit, learn, steal ideas and improve to make better production facilities that are good for people and the planet.
