Does the Senior Leadership Know Your Name? Do you know those moments at work when you feel like blending into the wallpaper? You're this hidden gem, but no one has the map to find you. Yeah, I've been there, and trust me, so many of the fantastic people I talk to feel the same way.
Whenever someone like you shares their story with me, I always think, 'Wow, if only more people knew just how awesome they are.' You’ve got all these amazing talents and ideas, but sometimes it feels like you're whispering in a crowded football stadium.
Today, I’m going to dive deep into this topic. It's not just about getting noticed at work but about celebrating all the cool things that make you YOU. Remember, it's not always about the big office or the fancy title. It's about making waves, leaving your mark, and creating your unique magic.
So, if you've ever felt like you’re playing small, grab a coffee or a cup of tea, and let's chat. Because you, my friend, are meant for a more expansive career and life. It is possible!
How Did I Become Known? I became “known” for my focus on our customers and deep technical and system focus. This didn’t happen overnight…
Some people cared about the Fleet without my expertise, and some had exquisite expertise without understanding what it was like to be a Sailor. I used my combination of experiences and went ALL IN and became known for making sure our customers (the Sailors) have what they need to conduct their missions, in a MAJOR WAY.
Does it Matter if You are Known at Work? For many reasons, it is essential to become "known" for something in a large organization. Here are a few of the most important ones:
Of course, there are also some challenges to becoming known in a large organization. It can take time and effort to build a reputation. You may also need to overcome the challenges of being an introvert in a corporate setting. But if you are willing to put in the work, becoming known for something can be a valuable asset to your career.
HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE NOT KNOWN? There are a few signs that you may not be known in a large organization:
Here are some specific things you can do to become known in a large organization: * Find your niche and become an expert. What are you passionate about? What are you good at? Focus on developing your skills and knowledge in this area, and become known as the go-to person for that topic. This could involve writing articles, speaking at conferences, or volunteering to lead projects. This also means staying current on the latest trends and developments and sharing knowledge. * Get involved in projects that are visible to senior leaders. This could involve volunteering for stretch assignments or leading cross-functional teams. This is a great way to meet people from other departments and learn about different business areas. It also shows that you can work with others outside your comfort zone. * Network with people in your field. Attend industry events, connect with people on LinkedIn, and reach out to people you admire—network with people in your field. Attend industry events, connect with people on LinkedIn, and reach out to people you admire. The more people you know, the more likely you will be heard. * Be a mentor or sponsor. Helping others is a great way to build relationships and positively impact the organization. You demonstrate your leadership skills and commitment to the company when you mentor or sponsor someone.
If you can do these things, you will be well on your way to becoming known in a large organization.
ACTIVITY Choose 2-3 ideas from this article and begin to implement them. For example, volunteer for a Cross-Organizational Team, ask someone more junior if they would like a mentor, or identify your top three strengths and then brainstorm ways that you might be able to use them more robustly in your current organization. I have a robust activity I take my clients through to get after this in my executive coaching program – it is eye-opening when they realize all they have to offer, yet they have been holding back in many ways that they weren’t aware of.
CONCLUSION It's important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to becoming known in a large organization. The most important thing is to be yourself and to focus on doing great work. If you do that, people will notice you.
Here are some additional tips that may be helpful for introverted women:
I hope these tips help you to become known in a large organization. You’ve got this!
I hope this conversation today sheds some light into those hidden corners so that you spend less time feeling unseen at work.
Remember: you are an absolute rockstar, even if the spotlight hasn't found you yet. Just keep going; it will work.
Keep shining and being your fabulous self; trust me, the right people will notice. And if they don't? Well, you’ve got me and the entire community right here that sees and celebrates you.
So, until the next episode, take good care of yourself. Stay radiant, stay bold, and always know I’ll be here, cheering you on!
Podcast Shownotes This topic is not just about getting noticed at work but about celebrating all the cool things that make you YOU. Remember, it's not about the position, the title, or the benefits. It's about making waves, leaving your mark, and creating your personal brand of magic.

Making a mistake, even what you consider a BIG mistake, isn’t necessarily a problem until you start beating yourself up over something that’s already done and can’t be undone. Your mind is tricky, and sometimes it can get stuck in a loop, especially if you feel shame, humiliation, deep regret, sadness, embarrassment, mortification, or possibly discredited. Maybe you find yourself saying, over and over, “Why did I do that? How could I have been so stupid? I’m a complete idiot!” These feelings are powerful and probably make you want to hide in a hole and never come out. In this episode, I will help you work through these moments so you can come back stronger.

This episode is going to change your mindset and give you 3 steps to be seen as a thought leader in your organization.

Have you heard of Corporate Stockholm Syndrome? If this type of behavior is tolerated, It will only inspire others to lead in this manner and will spoil the entire organizational culture and output. The ultimate loser will be the customer. If you are like me, and working in an industry where you are very passionate about your customer, where lives could be on the line. There is zero room to let such behavior spread.

There is nothing like uncertainty to exponentially increase anxiety and stress levels. It's time to take a breath, center yourself, and take time to just love and care for you.

A person with Executive Presence will be ready when that amazing opportunity comes knocking. When you arrive at an interview (even if it is on Zoom) with a neat, professional appearance, the picture of poise -- others will take note. When they then ask you for examples of your work, and you open your book to the exact page and highlight the perfect example, you will come across as organized, methodical, and prepared.
These moments are always impressive.
The best way to curate these moments is to have the work done ahead of time so that even if you have to tweak or tailor your resume or your portfolio, it will be fairly easy and low stress to take care of it.

What if you fail, what if you spend too much money, what if you hit a roadblock? What if you don’t make progress? What if you waste all your time trying and then fail? What if you try and no one notices? What if they think you are an impostor? Thinking like this is what I like to call, “What-If-ing” yourself to death.
Today, I want you to try, “What-If-Ing” yourself to life!

I want to start with a strong statement today: As long as you hide your gifts, as long as you play small, as long as you waste time judging others who DO share their gifts, and as long as you stay in your safe, comfortable space – you are choosing to be mediocre. There is no other way to look at this. This episode covers 6 surprising ways you allow yourself to be forgettable at home and work, every day.
Imagine the world we could create if we all believed we could make a difference. You have been meaning to do something BIG, you have it in your mind but you think it might be just a bit crazy. It would be SO hard. But, what if you decided that this was it? 2021 is the year you are going to try. I believe that a year like 2020 is the motivation we need to do just that.
Watch the "Great Realisation" Video by the "Probably TomFoolerly" YouTube Channel. It is so well done, watched by over 6 Million people. Even if you have seen it before - watch it again and think about what we talked about on this episode before you decide what your 2021 goals will be.
Life is a long and winding road. When you are in the arena, doing the hard jobs with your head down, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life – this is when you might go astray. If you craft a personal mission statement -- aligned to your values -- and refer to it as you create annual goals, you will remain focused on what is really important to you. This episode will guide you to define your values and draft a personal mission statement. Use this mission statement in your goal development.

That person who you silenced without the slighted thought about what she wanted, or why she had so much to say was YOU. She was the highest potential version of you, and she was trying to get your attention. She had so much she wanted to share with you, ideas, dreams, the vision of what could be. If only you had listened to her. This episode will cover how to spend more time with that amazing muse - YOU.

Today, on International Women’s day, and every day, the best thing we can do as women is to help other women. Teach them, mentor them, guide them, learn from them, and listen to them. I am only where I am today because of other amazing women. My mom, step-mom, and grandmothers, my great grandmothers, sister, and girlfriends. Women I met in the Navy and so many amazing women in my post-Navy life are role models and mentors to me now. I'm thankful for all the women who made me who I am and for all the women who paved the way to all my generation to achieve the success we have. The best way to repay them is for me, and for you, to be the best we can every day, to use our gifts, to shine our light brighter than any generation before us, and then to mentor the next generation as they did for us.
I chose a photo of a "dust bowl" era mother for today's cover. We so often think of those who came before us as "Rosie the Riveter" or the women of the Suffrage movement. They were very important. The lineage of strong women in my family flows straight through the dust bowl. My great grandmother and grandmother lived in southern Colorado, near Kansas and Oklahoma, during this era and worked harder and longer, with great concern for their lives. They struggled in ways we cannot imagine so that I can be here talking to you today. My work ethic comes from them, but I know NOTHING of the struggles they lived through. Thank you Granny and Grandma - you created a better world for us all. Love, Tami

You can create genius around you and you can drive others to have a higher contribution. In every place you ever work, you will find that resources – either people or money, will always be an issue. Even if you work at the top Fortune 500 companies, they are driven to produce a profit and are beholden to shareholders. If you are in the military or the government, there is no new money. Therefore, you will grow as a leader and become a person who is able to produce real, tangible results when you learn to use all the talent and intelligence of your entire team and others around you. On the other hand, you will drive others away and hamper the best ideas from bubbling up if you are a Diminisher. This will impact your results, dampen the business and demotivate all those around you. I know who you want to be. This episode will get you on the right track.

The leaders we will discuss today are one example of good people who became very successful and then chose not to adapt when the feedback came their way. Why wouldn’t they have made changes sooner? Well – that is what this episode is about: Why Senior Leaders lose self-awareness and how you can avoid falling in this trap. At the end of this episode, we will discuss the steps you can take to achieve greatness by becoming a leader with grace. Many leaders could use improvement in all the areas we will discuss today, including me in some cases, but not all leaders are aware that THEY are part of the "many."

Eat That Frog and 21 steps you can take to stop procrastinating
Mark Twain was allegedly quoted as saying, "If it's your job to eat a frog, it's best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it's your job to eat two frogs, it's best to eat the biggest one first."

Each week I will create action steps for each of us to work toward, based on the books we read. The books and the sequence we will progress through them have been purposefully laid out. When we are through the last book, you will already have accomplished more in 10 weeks than you did all the previous months of the year and you will have a robust plan as you head in to 2019. Imagine 2019 for a moment. 2019 could be the year that all your dreams will come true, that you accomplish more than you imagined was possible and you also have time to enjoy life and to reap the benefits from your productive life. That is what I want for you and that is who you will be if you come along with us on this productivity journey.
The book for next week will be: “Finish what you start” by Craig S. Copeland
As a side note, if you aren’t able to read the book prior to listening, we will give you a high-level overview and will give you enough information so that you can work through the exercises with us. So, even if you do not read the books, you will learn A LOT from each episode. Still, each one of these books are packed with so many nuggets of goodness and there is no way we can cover everything in them, so I highly encourage you to read each of them as you work along with us to transform our productivity!

Episode 42: Deep Work by Cal Newport and the steps you can take to get started!
What is keeping you from getting your most important things done? It is probably the lack of "Deep Work" in your life. We will talk to you about what you can do to find more Deep Work time and get your most important things done!
In this book, Cal Newport draws a clear distinction between two types of work: deep work and shallow work.
Deep work is defined as:
Professional activities performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit. These efforts create new value, improve your skill, and are hard to replicate.
Shallow work is:
Non-cognitively demanding, logistical-style tasks, often performed while distracted. These efforts tend to not create much new value in the world and are easy to replicate.
Cal Newport believes that to achieve deep work, you will need to follow four principles
1.You must engage in deep work itself
2.You must learn how to embrace, rather than avoid “boredom”
3.You must have a plan to “quit social media”
4.You should definitely have a plan to “drain the shallows”
We will cover these four principles in more depths and discuss our thoughts on the book in this episode.

Charles Duhigg said that “Productivity is about making certain choices in certain ways. The way we choose to see ourselves and frame daily decisions; the stories we tell ourselves, and the easy goals we ignore; The sense of community we build among teammates; the creative cultures we establish as leaders: These are the things that separate the merely busy from the genuinely productive.”
This book explores the eight ideas that Mr. Duhigg’s research found to be most important in expanding productivity: Motivation, Teams, Focus, Goal Setting, Managing Others, Decision Making, Innovation, and Absorbing Data

The Book, the NOW Habit, written by Dr. Neil Fiore, is a very action-based guide to understanding and dealing with your own procrastination and the procrastination of the other people in your life. Are you a procrastinator? Most of us procrastinate at something and many of us wish we would procrastinate less or that we could make improvements to feel less guilt related to the things we are procrastinating on. This podcast will give you several activities, based on the book, to help you procrastinate less!

With today’s episode we are kicking our productivity into high gear with a 30 day productivity challenge. We will be starting this 30 day productivity challenge in the “Genuine Driven Women Mastermind group.”
This 30 day challenge will be based on the book for today’s podcast, which is “The 30 Day Productivity Plan,” by Damon Zahariades. In this book, he lays out a plan for you to follow, which is based on 30 small changes you can take in quick succession to dramatically improve your productivity. I will provide these challenges to you each of the next 30 days in the Facebook group and action steps you can take to implement them. You can choose to make these improvements on each new day, or you can choose to make one improvement every few days, or even one a week. No matter how you decide to make your improvements, we will all be there in the group, making our own improvements and encouraging you, helping each other, and making sure that we all rise - together.

In First Things First, Stephen Covey says that it matters more WHERE you are going than how fast you get there. He says his approach will provide you with the compass to get there. There is no short-cut, but there is a path based on principles. What you are doing and WHY you are doing it is the most important thing. In this book, he says that the way most people spend their time and what they think is most important are usually NOT aligned. We will tell you how to align your time and your purpose today!

We’d love for you to take a couple minutes to write a review on iTunes, which will help us to reach our goal to connect with girls, young ladies, and women who need just this kind of inspiration each week.

Today we are discussing the book, “The One Thing” by Gary Keller with Jay Papasan and then we will take you through some steps you can take to incorporate the ideas into your life.
The concept behind the one thing is very simple, do the ONE THING. The harder part is figuring out what YOUR one thing is.
Gary Keller says that you should “GO SMALL.” He says, “Going small is ignoring all the things you COULD do” and actually “doing what you SHOULD do.” He goes on to say you should recognize that “Not all things matter equally.” You need to find “what matters MOST.”
10 Weeks to transform your productivity
We have an exciting plan to help you reach your goals and become the best you that you can be! Beginning next week, we will take you through 10 of the best productivity books on the market, one book per week.
This is going to be a very interactive series, because you will only be transformed if you actually take the steps, make the changes, and start the actions needed to improve. We will be with you each step of the way.

The book, for next week will be “First Things First” by Stephen Covey
As a side note, if you aren’t able to read the book prior to listening, we will give you a high-level overview and will give you enough information so that you can work through the exercises with us. So, even if you do not read the books, you will learn A LOT from each episode. Still, each one of these books are packed with so many nuggets of goodness and there is no way we can cover everything in them, so I highly encourage you to read each of them as you work along with us to transform our productivity!

Today's discussion is titled: If You Don't Change: You die.
This is a very dramatic and final sense of the difference between Life, Stagnation, and Death, but you only have so many years here on earth and you have such big ideas, dreams, and goals. Every day is an opportunity to move toward your dreams, and in a very similar thought, if you are not moving toward your dreams – you are moving away from them.

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #30
Today I have something I have been wanting to talk to you about for awhile, and I have been waiting for an episode just like this to have a more personal conversation with you about who you know you are and the competing voices of those around you who doubt you, doubt you can do what you are setting out to do. The title of this show is: Doubters Destroy Dreams, but you must Push Forward Anyway!
Ok, you have heard my examples – do you have any examples of times people told you couldn’t but then you succeeded, in spite of their doubts? I would love to hear your stories and I am sure they would help others just like you who have some negativity surrounding their dreams! You could use the voice recorder on your phone, record your story and e-mail me the file to tami.north@genuinedrivenwomen.com or call and leave me a voicemail at (724) DRIVEN-2, that’s (724) 374-8362.

(Click here for Part 4 of 5: Be a Warrior and take Responsibility.)
If you want to become a woman that makes an impact on the world, you must learn to focus your mind on the tasks that allow you to make that impact. Making a difference in the world does not happen by accident. You have to make a plan with a purpose.
Time is the most important resource we have in our lives and it has no chance of being replenished. Life expectancy in the United States is about 79 years, which means that if you are 20 years old – you only have 59 years left to live, on average. That is only 3,068 Friday nights left to hang out with your friends, go on date nights, or have movie night with the kids.
It might sound like a lot, but it is only about 236 seasons of the year for you to comment on the warm summer sun, the changing of the leaves, the first snowfall or the beautiful spring flowers. I was just 20 years old the other day, now I am closer to 50 than 40 and I can verify, 4 decades went by very quickly and assume the next 4 decades will go even faster. How will you choose to spend your time on this earth?

In these 5 episodes, we will be discussing some areas that may not be obviously tied to your future as a successful woman, but if you allow any of these 5 areas to get out of hand, or fall into disarray, they can completely take over your life and derail your dreams and plans. If you take steps to get these 5 areas of your life under control, you’ll be amazed at how easy it will be to say YES when an unexpected opportunity comes your way!
These five areas were chosen because when they are not in control, they will drain your energy, your creativity, and if they are bad enough they will completely consume your life with negativity and drama.
Our focus for today is Who You Allow into Your World and how they can change the trajectory of your entire life
How to Work your money so it will work for you.

Genuine Driven Women read lots of books, and I’d like to recommend an excellent way for you to dramatically increase the number of books you are able to read each month: which is… Listening to audiobooks through Audible.com. If you’d like to download a free audiobook, go to audibletrial.com/Drivenwomen.
I used to think that reading books meant sitting still and finding quiet time to read, which is a very enjoyable experience for a lot of people. The only problem is that back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I was a busy single mom, serving in the US Navy, and during some of that time I was also working on my Bachelor and Master degrees, so by the time I had an opportunity to sit still and read what I wanted to read, I was too exhausted to read. I still have that problem today. Between working a demanding full-time job, quality time with my family, and I running the Genuine Driven Women brand of businesses with my spare time. I still have very little time to still and read. Even so -- on average, over the last 15 years, I have found the time to read about one book every single week. How did I do this? It was because I discovered Audible.com and became a member in the summer of 2003.
I’d like to introduce you to Audible.com today, so you can benefit from the largest Audiobook library in the world. Audible has a special offer for the listeners of the Genuine Driven Women podcast, they are offering a FREE audiobook download with a free 30-day trial to give you the opportunity to check out their service.
If you are a Genuine Driven Women, and you want to read one of the best books to help get your financial world under control, I recommend “Total Money Makeover” by Dave Ramsey.
There's one sure way to whip your finances into shape, and that's with The Total Money Makeover. It's the simplest, most straightforward game plan for completely making over your money habits. And it's based on results, not pie-in-the-sky fantasies. You'll be exercising your financial strength every day and quickly freeing yourself of worry, stress, and debt. Read this book, it changed my life and I know it can change yours too.
If you are interested in Fiction books, Audible.com has thousands of beautifully narrated fiction books, that will take your mind to places and lives that seem so real, you will feel like you’ve been completely immersed in a new and interesting culture. One of the best examples of this experience can be found in the audiobook version of “The Secret Life of Bees,” written by Sue Kidd Monk and narrated by Jenna Lamia.
This novel has stolen the hearts of reviewers and readers alike with its strong, assured voice. Set in South Carolina in 1964, The Secret Life of Bees tells the story of Lily Owens, whose life has been shaped around the blurred memory of the afternoon her mother was killed.
When Lily's fierce-hearted "stand-in mother", Rosaleen, insults three of the town's fiercest racists, Lily decides they should both escape to Tiburon, South Carolina - a town that holds the secret to her mother's past.
There, they are taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters who introduce Lily to a mesmerizing world of bees, honey, and the Black Madonna who presides over their household.
This is a remarkable story about divine female power and the transforming power of love - a story that women will share and pass on to their daughters for years to come.
You can get either one of these books for free or choose another book you would enjoy from the largest selection of audiobooks in the world. Audible allows you to keep your books, even if you cancel.

Show Notes for Episode #20
Main Topic:
On this episode we discuss Why women make extraordinary executives and the steps other women have taken to become CEOs. This topic is not solely for those women who are striving to become an actual CEO. The advice that will lead you to an eventual CEO position will technically lead you where ever you want to go within an organization. Also, keep in mind that many women who eventually became CEOs never planned on becoming CEOs. The thing is, as you grow and learn and become - opportunities open up that you never expected. You learn things that make you realize that if YOU don’t take that step to make the organization better, maybe no one will. You realize that what you believe in matters and that if you don’t move up to the next level, and then the next, the person who does may not have the same vision as you do and your ideas will wither on the vine. Even if you are starting in your very first professional position now, this discussion is for you.

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #18
On today’s show we talk about how you can drive up the ladder of success while you are stuck in traffic.
According to the 2012-2016 American Community Survey 5-year estimates, the average commute time for people in the US is 26.1minutes and rising. The definition of a “commuter” is anyone who does not work at home. In some highly populated areas, the average commute times are as high as 40+ minutes. If this is the average, it means there are a LOT of people who commute for a much longer time. Also, in some cities, up to 31% of their population commutes via public transportation. There is another category, they are called “Super Commuters.” They spend 90 minutes or more, each way, commuting to work. In a lot of cases, these people will frequently rent a very cheap room or studio apartment and stay overnight during the work week.
According to a Zillow Study in 2015, commute times for higher-income earners hasn’t changed too much over the past 10 years, but commutes are getting longer and longer for low-income workers. This is primarily because affordable housing is getting pushed farther and farther out from high economic centers or job locations. The most important thing all of this data is telling us is that there is a very high chance that you could be spending 10% of your waking hours commuting to and from work.
There are some ways you could reduce your commuting time:
While all of these options may offer some relief, the reality is that a lot of you will continue to be commuters, so it is important to come to terms with that and find ways to make it a much more enjoyable experience and start to look at it as an opportunity.
You can use that commute as a one of the tools in your transformation to who you want to be 2, 5, or ten years from now.
The reality is that women, especially Driven Women, are much more impacted by their commute than men are. Your commute may cause you stress or other health related concerns.
The impact of constant stress on our health is discussed every day in the news.
In a study titled, “Developments in the Measurement of Subjective Well-Being,” published in the Winter 2006 edition of the Journal of Economic Perspectives, there is a report about “a day in the life” of 909 employed women in Texas.
There are a couple of important components to increasing how you feel about your commute: Autonomy (a feeling a freedom) and how connected you feel while commuting.
A Harvard Business Review article, “Reclaim your commute” discussed that you should “focus on what you can control: how you spend your time during the trip.”
Using Waze or other traffic applications: “Waze specifically enables commuters to share real-time user-generated travel information such as traffic jams, police, accident, hazard, chit chat, and other.” Waze will reroute you if a better route is found while you are in transit.
How you can directly impact your success at work with an improvement in how you spend your time while you are commuting.
In a study titled, “Commuting as Role Transitions: How Trait Self-Control and Work-related Prospection Offset Negative Effects of Lengthy Commutes,” by Jon M. Jachimowicz and Julia L. Lee, they found that “people with higher degrees of self-control use their commute to more effectively transition from their home to their work role, and consequently are less adversely affected by the commuting experience.”
And, conversely - that people with low self-control are negatively affected by their commutes.
Here are ten (10) ideas, along with some tools that will help you use your commute to drive yourself up the ladder of success:
I have an example of a “Genuine Driven Women” Playlist on Spotify that you may enjoy.
You spend way too much of your valuable time commuting to not spend some of it planning for the better version of you. Your future self will thank you for the time you spend today!

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #14
Don’t Tell Anyone, but I’m in Over my Head!
Welcome to the “Genuine Driven Women” podcast, the show where we guide women to reveal their strengths so they believe and can achieve their desired greatness!
Today’s episode is called, Don’t Tell Anyone, but I’m in Over my Head. We discuss Impostor Syndrome and how to deal with it.
MAIN TOPIC
To start, I’d like to read a poem, titled Our Deepest Fear, by Marianne Williamson. Really focus on the words, and if you need to listen again, as I did the first time I heard it – this episode will always be here for you.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
_____________
Have you heard of “Impostor Syndrome”? It is that feeling, that fear, that someone is going to figure out that you are not as smart or as capable as they first thought, even though you have proven to be very successful and capable to this point. This is VERY common, up to 70% of all women and men deal with it. Today, we give you concrete steps to DEAL WITH IT.
You may even have the grades, the awards, the salary, and a long list of accomplishments to back yourself up, but still – that nagging belief that you shouldn’t be where you are, continues to haunt you.
In fact, Impostor syndrome really only occurs in High Achievers. It is not a problem for Low Achievers. So, if you have been feeling like a fraud, it probably only means you have high standards for yourself.
As Marianne Williamson’s poem inferred, you should have high standards for yourself, for you were created to let your own brilliance shine.
One of the earliest references to this phenomenon was in 1978, in a Georgia State University research paper titled, The Impostor Phenomenon in High Achieving Women: Dynamics and Therapeutic Intervention, written by Pauline Rose Clance and Suzanne Imes.
In the book, The Confidence Code, written by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman (TV News journalists), They said, “We should star in our own production. Often, women just seem to have the spotlight thing backward. We want to shine a bright light on our faults, insecurities, and the outlandish reasons we will surely fail, but when it comes to taking credit or enjoying our triumphs, we step into the shadows, looking at our accomplishments as though we’ve never seen them before.”

This book discusses why we should leverage the fundamental human search for purpose and meaning, and how that purpose - rather than any one person, is what truly leads and motivates people to do their best. This book will help today’s leaders, educators, and parents discover, clarify, and deliver their reason for existence―their authentic purpose, and to help those they lead find it for themselves.
"The Invisible Leader" is a unique and compelling combination of practical tools, storytelling, research, and case studies which form the basis of a powerful new approach to leadership.

On today’s show, we will discuss How to Stop Crying and Screaming so you can Control the ripple effect of your emotions on others
Before we get started, I’d like to say hello to those of you who are listening in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mozambique, India and even China!
MAIN TOPIC
Tami: ( STORY OF COFFEE LADY)
Do you have a desire to be a senior leader within your organization? If so, you do need to learn to manage your emotions. Have you seen overly angry women at work or at school?
There are times and places where a proper display of anger may be necessary, but if this kind of anger is your default reaction to anything that slightly displeases you, you need to figure out what you need to do to change your reaction. This kind of anger WILL get in your way on your road to success, and it is unacceptable, period.
If you remain that kind of angry in the everyday interactions you have with people around you, you will find that you get stuck exactly where you are, which will probably only make you angrier.
What about the desire to cry? If you are someone who is very emotional, and it’s not anger you are over-displaying, but instead you cry all the time, is it possible you can learn to control this?
Yes - you can control your urge to cry! Crying is not a bad thing, when it is done for the right reasons or in the right place. Still, crying does have a very big impact on all the people around you, and it can be seen as manipulative, weak, or make you seem like you are not a person who is “in control.”
This is the reason you should learn to recognize how and when you cry, and then decide if it is truly necessary each time. You can make the decision to improve this emotional response and you will feel more powerful if you do learn to control it more often.
Let’s talk about Emotional Intelligence. According to PsychCentral.Com, “Emotional intelligence or EQ, is more important than a person’s intelligence or IQ, in achieving success in their lives and careers.”
Is it worth the effort to change our EQ? According to the book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves, here are some reasons you should try to improve your
There are two major sides of EQ, one is how well we know and manage ourselves and our own emotions, the other is how well we recognize emotions in others and manage our interactions with them.
In a HBR article, Daniel Goleman describes 12 competencies within 4 domains that make up Emotional Intelligence.
[REFERENCE PHOTO - Click this link]
In the book Emotional Intelligence 2.0, they describe a simpler, but very similar version of this.
[REFERENCE PHOTO - Click this link]
Take a close look at each one of these and consider how you might rate on each of these items. If you buy the book, Emotional Intelligence 2.0, it does come with a code that will allow you to take a free EQ assessment test, which could give you clarity for what you need to work on first.
The examples of anger and crying at the beginning, fit squarely into the “Self-Awareness” and “Self-Management” domains. These domains are heavily in your control.
According to Dr. W. Gerrod Parrott, a Professor of Psychology at Georgetown University, all emotions come form the basis of six general categories: Love, Joy, Surprise, Anger, Sadness, Fear. He has broken these emotions into hundreds of related secondary and tertiary emotions. You can click the link in the show notes to see his chart.
[REFERENCE PHOTO - Click this link]
What are some concrete steps we can take to start improving our Emotional Intelligence right away?
Once you have identified the emotion or competency you want to work on first, develop some strategies that you will employ for trying to correct the behavior.
The Book Emotional Intelligence 2.0 includes 15 or more strategies for each EQ domain. Given our examples today, of losing your temper or crying, you might try some of these.Adalida: Time Machine:

This is Episode #12 and on today’s show we are going to talk about Finding a mentor and Becoming a mentor for others.
Before we get started, a few of our listeners have reached out to us and let us know they love what we are doing. Some people have asked us how they can help us grow and succeed in our mission. The absolute best thing you can do if you think this show has meaning and if it has inspired you, is to go to iTunes and take a minute to write a review. I have put a link in the show notes if you want to type a review. (Link to GDW in iTunes) Or simply share our podcasts via your social media accounts.

"I love this podcast! I’ve known Tami for a long time and I can honestly say that she is a driven women who relates well to women in many different career fields."
MAIN TOPIC
Finding a Mentor or Becoming a Mentor
What is a mentor? The definition of a mentor is an experienced and trusted adviser or an experienced person in a company, college, or school who trains and counsels employees or students.
A mentor can either be a formal relationship where a school or a company may actually “assign” you a mentor,
or it may be more informal where you simply consider someone your mentor, though it may never have been actually discussed. It can also be anywhere between those examples in the level of formality. A mentor is different than a “role model.” A Role model could be someone you never even met, or perhaps even a fictional character that you read about in a book, someone who you look up to or strive to grow to have similar skill sets or accomplishments.
A mentor should be a real person, who you have met and do respect. A mentor is someone who you have the ability to talk to, ask questions of, and they willingly provide advice and counsel to you.
Why do we need a mentor?
Even if you are a genuine driven woman, it may be hard to see where you need to improve. A mentor will give you the feedback on where you might grow so that you can go further along the path toward your goal.
Assuming the mentor is a formal relationship agreed upon by both parties at an organization, the mentor’s experience in the company may help you avoid mistakes and focus your efforts on a path that is good for both you and the organization
This will likely lead to upward mobility and open up options that you have not yet considered for yourself.

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #11
This is Episode #11 and today, we are going to talk about being Brave Enough to accomplish your goals.
TAMI: Before we get started, a few of our listeners have reached out to us and let us know they love what we are doing. Some people have asked us how they can help us grow and succeed in our mission. The absolute best thing you can do if you think this show has meaning and if it has inspired you, is to go to iTunes and take a minute to write a review. ADALIDA: We’d like to thank Cowonahill for a 5 STAR review we received via iTunes. ★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.
Even if you don’t feel like you need advice/guidance in your life right now, it’s really positive and motivating to listen to these ladies! :) It really builds a sense of community with fellow listeners. They got your back!
And, with that - we will jump into today’s main topic:
MAIN TOPIC
The definition of brave from the Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “having or showing mental or moral strength to face danger, fear, or difficulty: having or showing courage”
The definition of courage is “mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty”
I hope you noticed that neither of these definitions say WITHOUT fear, they say “face fear or withstand fear.” Fear, at some level, will never go away. There will always be some new difficulty that you initially believe is insurmountable. This is what we will talk about today – how to move forward in spite of your fears.
The good news is that you only have to be brave enough to take the very next step.
What is it that you want out of your life? I’m not talking about what you want and also think other people expect from you. I am talking about what YOU want, what you REALLY want.
When you dream of who you would be if there were no limits or no roadblocks, if you could be anything you wanted in the whole world. What would you do?
Are you on the path to that dream now? Are you taking the steps to make THAT dream come true? Or, are you planning on something that is safer, something that is a compromise in your eyes.
Something that is easy to accomplish, something that you already have the skills and ability to do today.
If you believe your passion is in the dream job and you feel like you are missing out on your life’s purpose, you have to ask yourself what is keeping you from pursuing the career that is calling to you. Could it be fear?
Let’s think of an example dream job…. Maybe a national news journalist on a major TV network.
What are some common fears?
(Talk about one by one with some ad-lib)
o Fear of failure
o Fear of making mistakes
o Fear of how long the path is to get to your goal
o Fear people will not understand
o Fear we’ll do all the work to get there and we will find we didn’t really want it
o Fear we really aren’t good enough to get there
o Fear that we aren’t worth it
o Fear that dreams only come true for other people
As we mentioned, the fear will probably not ever go away completely.
The good news is that we can use a dash of bravery and we can use our courage to push through the fear.
What is the first thing you should do when you have a dream that you want to bring into reality?
The very first thing you should do is WRITE IT DOWN! I know, this sounds simple, but so many people won’t take the time to do that. Write it down – get a journal or a planner.
After you write down your dream the next thing you should do is:
(Talk about one by one with some ad-lib)
o Specific
o Measureable
o Achievable
o Relevant
o Time-bound
o Evaluate
o Review
Then, you should (2.) Break down the goal into action steps that can happen in the near term. Transfer these steps onto your current to-do list, as appropriate, and start working on them!
Now here is the way we conquer our fear: Just focus on the very next step. That’s it.
You do not have to be brave enough to go from high school graduation to running a multi-million-dollar company, or to commanding an United States Warship, prepared to defend this great nation, or to the most well-respected movie directors of all time.
All you have to do is focus on the next thing you have to do on the path from where you are to where you want to be.
Here are some steps you can take to become more courageous:
(Talk about one by one with some ad-lib)
o Focus on the very next small step
o Remember your fear will never go away, and do the next step anyway
o Be Persistent – stay on your path.
o Ignore those who do not believe you can do this – yes, seriously – IGNORE THEM!
o Embrace the feeling of the fear and how exhilarating it feels to stretch yourself!
Here are some things you can focus on to increase your bravery:
(Talk about one by one with some ad-lib)
o Focus on previous times when you have succeeded, how did that feel? Remember the path you took to that success.
o Use the feeling of the success to motivate you?
o Did you have challenges? What did you do to overcome them? How did that feel?
o Do you have a memory of a time when you were felt brave? A time when you really stretched out of your comfort zone? How did that feel?
What happens if you do reach a brick wall and it seems too hard to get over? We recommend focusing on these thoughts – write them down in your goal journal as you think through the issue:
(Talk about one by one with some ad-lib)
o How will I get past this?
o What is the very next step along my path?
o Do any opportunities exist in my world that I am overlooking?
o Is there anyone I know who has already accomplished this goal or at least this next step? Would they talk to me about what they learned?
So, you can see - those giant elephants are not really anything to be afraid of, as long as you focus on one piece at a time and just keep going in the same direction!
I know you are afraid sometimes, so am I!
And so am I.
This only means you are human and that you have an active primal survival instinct. Fear is normal, but remember you do not have to be brave enough to take on the entire world on your own. You only have to stop, focus, break the task in to smaller pieces and then muster the courage to take that very next step - then take the next one after that.
We are rooting for you!
Let us know how it is going!

This week’s book is:
Grit!
By Angela Duckworth
If you’d like to buy this book in any format, including the audiobooks, click this link: http://amzn.to/2G6SzEe
The author, Angela Duckworth, shows anyone who desires to succeed that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a special blend of passion and persistence she calls grit.
Her hypothesis is that what really drives success is not genius but a unique combination of passion and long term perseverance.
She has two formulas I know will speak to you:
talent x effort = skill
Skill x effort = achievement
Based on these formulas, you will see that talent (or intelligence) alone is not enough to predict success.
I love this book, because it is the way of the Genuine Driven Woman to persist, to put in the hard work, and to succeed, even when it seems out of reach or too hard for so many. You will love this book!

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #9
Executive Presence
This is Episode #9 and I am Tami along with my co-host, Adalida. On today’s show we are going to talk about how to improve your “Executive Presence”.
According to Suzanne Bates, author of the book, All the Leader You Can Be, executive presence is the “ability of the leader to engage, align, inspire, and move people to act”. Sylvia Ann Hewlitt, the author of Executive Presence, defines it as “A measure of image: whether you signal to others that you are star material. If you are able to crack the EP code, you’ll be first in line for that next plum assignment and be given the chance to do something extraordinary with your life.” The average person may think EP is the way you dress or the ability to give a speech or presentation to a large group. It is a lot more than that though, if all you do is dress the way you believe an executive should dress at your workplace, and do not consider any other aspects, you may come off as not authentic. You may even come off kind of awkward, or kind of funny… Think of the adorable little girl dressed up in her mommy’s church dress, pearls, and high heels. This might be cute for a child, but it is NOT what we are going for when we try to improve our Executive Presence.
EP is A LOT more than outward appearances. This is why this topic is so important. Suzanne Bates breaks down her EP concept into 15 facets of presence and influence, that are also divided into three broad categories, Character, Substance, and Style. In Sylvia Ann Hewlitt’s book, Executive Presence, she believes that EP can be divided into three main headings, Gravitas, Communication, and Appearance. Let’s talk about some of these so you get the idea about what Executive Presence really is, with some concrete action steps you can take to begin improving your own EP!
Let’s start with Sylvia Ann Hewlitt’s idea of Gravitas:
Here are a few ideas on how to improve your “Gravitas”:
o Surround yourself with people who are better than you.
o Stick to what you know (don’t claim to know something you don’t know, if you are wrong it will cost you in the gravitas area.)
o Show humility
o Empower other’s presence to build your own
o Drive change, rather than be changed
Communication includee key verbal and non-verbal abilities (Sylvia Ann Hewlitt):
Here are a few ideas on how to improve your Communication Skills:
o Ditch verbal crutches (um, like, you know, etc.) Allow yourself to pause instead
o Broaden your small talk
o Get control of your voice
o Overprepare
o Learn to present without props (notes, etc.)
o Do not allow challenges to your authority to go unanswered
Appearance counts, largely as a filter through which your communication skills and gravitas become more apparent. Central to looking like a leader is (Sylvia Ann Hewlitt):
Here are a few tips for improving your appearance:
o It’s not how good your look, it is how appropriate you look for your audience.
o If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t
o Stay in costume to stay in character. (Don’t leave you suit jacked on the back of your door “in case” someone important comes by.) You never know when that will happen.
o Don’t let bangles and bling steal your show (anything that draws attention away from your message is NOT giving the best you a chance to shine.)
o When you are the CEO – you can make (and change) the rules. Until then, while you are still on your path, you should understand the expectations of your workplace.

Show Notes for Genuine Driven Women Episode #7
Welcome to the “Genuine Driven Women” podcast, the show where we guide women to reveal their strengths so they believe and can achieve their desired greatness!
This is Episode #7 and I am Tami along with my co-host, Adalida. On today’s show we are going to talk about Spirit Crushers you may encounter in your life.
I have personally witnessed a couple of instances in the last month where people in positions of authority are taking actions that are unnecessarily crushing people’s spirits.
The feeling when someone crushes your spirit is memorable and can be hard to push from your mind. We all want to be valued, listened to, and respected among our friends, at school, and within our workplaces.
Parents, teachers, co-workers, and supervisors at work (to name a few) are all capable of cutting us to the quick when they say something careless.
It is when you really bare your soul and share an idea for improvement, a dream, or sometimes simple optimism and they directly and intentionally respond in a negative way, that it can truly crush your spirit.
When you are struggling to find your place in this world, or when you know your purpose and are pushing hard to reach your full potential, spirit crushing moments have a way of setting you back or completely stopping progress toward your dream or goal.
We cannot control other people, but we CAN do two things: 1) We can make a decision to never crush anyone else’s spirit and 2) We can make a decision about how we will react to these moments.
Soul crushing people might be intentional, or they may just be careless in how they are interacting with you.
You might be able to put the moment into perspective if you know that they are not usually like this, or if you can decide that they are simply distracted or busy. Just because something hurts, does not mean it was intentional.
Sometimes people intentionally crush your dreams because they love you and believe they have your best interests at heart. This still does not make it right, but it might help you deal with it a little better.
Instances like this might be a parent that wants you to get an engineering or a pre-med degree rather than something else you believe is more perfect for you, simply because they think it will be easier for you to get a job in the future.
This is an example of them pushing their dream for you, and if your dream is different than theirs, this could lead to years of misery. You may get into your third year of college and realize this is not at all the career path you want to be on, or you may successfully graduate and start working in that career, and wake up five years into your career and realize you really hate your life.
Let’s talk about intentional Spirit crushing people. Well, let’s call them what they really are – bullies! According to overcomebullying.org, workplace bullies can be separated into the following types:
The Screaming MiMi - We've all seen (or "heard") the Screaming Mimi. They are loud, obnoxious and in your face. With their little faces turning beet red and their neck veins popping they will go on tirades, spew venom, humiliate you. They are right and you are wrong and you are going to hear about it.
The two-headed snake - This type of workplace bully is one of the most dangerous, because you may not realize you are dealing with a bully until after they have already destroyed your reputation.
To your face they may act like a friend; But they will slander your character and steal credit for your work while telling you they are your biggest fan.
** If you go to overcomebullying.org, you will find several other types of workplace bullies, but we just wanted to cover a few today.
If you are a leader, at any level, you should be careful about some behaviors you do, without thinking that tend to beat your team down. Here are somethings that leaders inadvertently do to crush people’s souls:
In many cases, they will start to think “what does it matter, he will just tell me exactly how I should do it anyway.” Right there – you killed their innovation, creativity, and probably their motivation. If this continues, you may cause high turnover on your teams.
They treat people they lead like they are not valuable, like they are literally worth less than the leader. If you treat your team like they are your servants, rather than amazing people who are learning and growing, or if you forget they are major enablers to the overall success of the team, they will find somewhere else to work. No one on this planet wants to be treated like a second-class citizen. Especially YOUR own team.
They use a heavy-handed approach to decision making. This is a “My way or the high-way” kind of leadership. This is very archaic, very old-school type thinking. If the leader just declares that they are right and makes every decision, this will majorly shut down a team. Any innovation, process improvement, or other improvement will be lost. Nothing will change – and the team will probably begin to find ways to actively work against you.
They show favoritism. A leader who is very obvious about who their favorite people are in a workplace will definitely crush the spirit of many people in the work force. It is also possible they could hurt the spirit of the one who is the favorite, because if the entire workforce knows that one person is the boss’s favorite, they may all treat that one person poorly or exclude them from collaborative activities.
This entire situation is horrible for morale and will make the workplace very toxic. It is a better option to treat everyone has ethically and fairly as possible. If most people believe their contribution matters, the overall climate will be at a more positive level.
What can YOU do if you feel like someone is crushing your spirit, but they may not mean to hurt you?
In this case, the best thing really is to have an honest conversation with the other person and see if the behavior can be rectified.
Another option, if you feel it was not on purpose, is to forgive them and move on – especially if it was rare.
What can you do if you feel like you are the victim of a very intentional workplace bully?
Do not blame yourself, you never deserve to be treated so poorly.
Try not to over think it, and try not to think about it away from the workplace.
Get it documented some over and over. This includes any meeting where you report it, the times and details of the occurrences, and any formal grievances you may file. Make sure anything written is pure facts with no emotion.
Make sure if you are going to report the bully or if you are going to start documenting it, that it really is inappropriate behavior. If you are doing shoddy work, and your boss gives you fair, honest feedback – that is not necessarily bullying you.
Do not wait to report the problems if you believe a workplace bully is lurking throughout your organization.
Remember, you were put on this earth for a purpose and if you are a true genuine, driven, women - you are focused on doing the right thing and making the world a better place - for yourself and others. Do not allow others to crush your spirit - be strong! And… if you do encounter a true workplace bully, report them. You will not only help yourself, but many others as well!

Forged In Crisis
By Nancy Koehn
If you’d like to buy this book in any format, including audio books, click this link: http://amzn.to/2CIsPZj
I absolutely loved this book, and I know you will too! It is a story of five different historical figures who were normal people like you and I. The leadership insights covered in this book will be of interest to a wide range of listeners - including those in government, business, education, and the arts. Harvard Business School historian Nancy Koehn wrote Forged in Crisis and she puts the spotlight on five masters of crisis:
What each of these five very different figures have in common? Why do their extraordinary stories continue to amaze and inspire? In her book, Nancy Koehn answers those questions and offers remarkable examples by which to judge leaders in our own time.
She begins each of the book's five sections by showing her protagonist on the precipice of a great crisis: Shackleton marooned on an Antarctic ice floe; Lincoln on the verge of seeing the Union collapse; escaped slave Douglass facing possible capture; Bonhoeffer agonizing over how to counter absolute evil with faith; Carson racing against the cancer ravaging her body in a bid to save the planet. The narrative then reaches back to each person's childhood and shows the individual growing - step by step - into the person he or she will ultimately become. As we follow each leader's against-all-odds journey, we begin to glean an essential truth: Leaders are not born but made. In a book dense with epiphanies, the most galvanizing one may be that the power to lead courageously resides in each of us. Yes, this book is essential reading for a genuine driven woman. Show Notes for Episode #2
Welcome to the “Genuine Driven Women” podcast, the show where we guide women to reveal their strengths so they believe and can achieve their desired greatness!
This is Episode #2 and I am Tami along with my co- Host, Adalida. Today we’d like to talk about some characteristics of high performers, and how easy it is to become one of the high performing people in your workplace.
Adalida: We have a great show planned for you today. We are going to talk about 7 characteristics of a high performer.
Tami: Thank you, Adalida! According to an Entrepreneur.com article, only 20% of any given workplace are high performers.
Adalida: If this is the case, just by improving on the characteristics we are going to share with you today, you can quickly rise to the top of your workplace.
Tami: You must be able to look at yourself and see what you do well and the attributes that you can improve. Here are some attributes that high performing people have in spades:
Adalida: The first characteristic is, they have their goals written down.
Tami: This includes the steps they need to accomplish to achieve these goals. They work these steps into their daily, weekly, and monthly task lists. A high performer will compete with themselves, constantly striving to accomplish one goal and then to make and achieve an even higher goal.
Adalida: I think of this like a cross-country race, where you focus on the runner in front of you, until you pass them, and then you focus on the next runner and pass that one too. Just one foot in front of the other, one step at a time, in the same direction, completing tasks, one-by-one.
Adalida: 2. They have a strong work ethic.
Tami: There may be nothing more important than a good work ethic. You can have the highest I.Q, but if you are lazy, it will only help you so much. Good hard work will make up for a lot of other shortcomings.
Adalida: 3. They have a good attitude. This does NOT mean anyone needs to be happy all the time.
Tami: This does mean they have the ability to offer others hope, they have a can-do reaction to hard tasks, when something goes wrong, they say, “Ok, we can get through this. Here is what we are going to do instead.” They lift people up rather than throwing out further negativity. They are a team player. They are not passive aggressive to others. They are a joy to be around in the workplace. This is contagious and will raise the performance of the whole team.
Adalida: 4. They have good morals.
Tami: A high performer will see right and wrong and will be brave enough to choose the right path, even when it is hard and will be able to (tactfully) point out when others want to go down an ethically questionable path.
Adalida: 5. They are always learning and they constantly find ways to grow.
Tami: This could be formal education, but it can also be shorter classes, growing through mentorship, and (my favorite) taking on challenges outside of their comfort zone. My grandma used to say that everything you learn is something no one can ever take away from you. This has stayed with me all these years and I try to keep myself in an almost constant state of learning.
Adalida: 6. They are a team player.
Tami: This does not mean they go along with “group-think,” but it does mean they can enter into good discussions with the team, they are able to work with others toward a common goal, and they are willing to communicate effectively when they disagree.
Adalida: 7. They see the big picture.
Tami: They know where they are going, where the team is going, where the organization is going and they understand their role in the whole process.
Take a good look in the mirror, who are you and who do you really want to be? The road to success is going to take consistent effort and self-awareness. I do believe you can do this, but it won’t always be easy. You must be able to look at yourself and see what you do well and the attributes upon which you can improve. Which ones do you need to work on? Look around you, there are scores of people who are not trying to improve. You are in charge of your own success, go out and get it!

Getting things done (or GTD for short, as it very commonly called) has become a one of the most common methods that people, around the world, are using to manage their growing task lists, projects big and small, and managing their “to do” lists for home and work. The theory behind GTD is that you must capture ALL the things that are cluttering your mind into one, common, trusted system. This includes things for work, home, hobbies, church, kids, school, etc. David Allen has some breakthrough ideas in how to organize the tasks so that you can get the things done that need to be done at a given location, or with certain resources. I have been using the GTD productivity system for about ten years, sometime robustly, and sometimes less so - and I can tell you when I am not using it as well, I can feel my mind clutter start to swell! I promise you that if you use GTD along with a trusted system (electronic or paper based), you are going to free your mind for the big important thoughts that you have been stuck on, and you creativity will FLOW! There is a reason so many people have implemented GTD into their productivity process. You will love the ideas in this book, and even if you do not implement GTD fully, the general ideas you get from this book will make it worth the cost alone, you will be a task burning machine after reading this book! I have a link in the show notes, if you buy the book through that link, it will give you all the motivation you need to get your tasks organized so your mind can soar!
