Reporter Egbert Cummings is aghast to be named the new drama critic for his paper, despite the fact that he's never seen a play. His fiancee, Doris, is appalled. As Egbert hesitantly settles in to his new post, a horrifying transformation begins. Adapted from "The Sad Story of a Dramatic Critic" by H.G. Wells.
