Over the past two months, myself and many other Black women advocates I know have experienced hateful attacks for our pro-Palestinian statements. I’m no stranger to this type of attack, and they’re irrelevant compared to the violence that people in Gaza are experiencing, and have experienced for generations.

It’s been unnerving to read them in my inbox as so many stories of violence against Black women circulate in the media. Though these stories are separate from the conflict, they speak to how Black women are routinely used as an outlet for others' rage and hate. As a victim of sexual assault myself, it’s never easy reading these headlines, but it’s been especially difficult when my personal channels are hateful, too. Today’s newsletter reflects the latest news and the misogynoir that runs as the throughline to each story.
