In Canada, maple syrup is King. Well, King Charles is also king, but maple syrup isn’t far behind. And in the heart of Quebec, between 2011 and 2012, where maple syrup flows like liquid gold, a gang of robbers orchestrated the disappearance of 18 million Canadian dollars worth of the syrupy treasure. Get ready for a tale where the strange pursuit of maple gold takes a turn into the world of the, I can’t believe I’m saying this, black-market maple syrup trade.

Maple Bourbon Smash (Cocktail)

  • 2 parts bourbon
  • ½ part maple syrup
  • ½ part orange juice
  • ¼ part lemon juice
  • 1 orange wheel
  • 4 dashes bitters
  • 1 ½ parts seltzer
  • In a glass, combine maple syrup, orange juice, and lemon juice.
  • Muddle orange wheel in the bottom of the glass.
  • Add bourbon, stir well.
  • Top with ice and seltzer.
