The author of Hebrews appeals to Jeremiah's promise of the new covenant to build his argument for the superiority of Christ. Jesus mediates the new covenant which is better than the old. In the new covenant, every covenant member has the law written on the heart, knows the Lord, and has the forgiveness of sins.
