In 2003, 17-year-old Shafilea Ahmed was feeling trapped; between who she wanted to be and who her family expected her to be. She went missing in September of that year, and the investigation uncovered a secret world of incomprehensible abuse.

Honor-based abuse stems from a perceived violation of the ‘honor’ and ‘shame’ codes of a particular society or community. If you are experiencing honor-based abuse you can safely reach out for help by contacting the UK Helpline: UK Helpline: 0800 5999 247
