General Motors and railroad locomotive manufacturer Wabtec have teamed up to develop  powerful emission-free locomotives using the automaker's Ultium  batteries and Hydrotec fuel cell technologies.  The results are dramatically reduced CO2 emissions and operational costs.  This could be another watershed moment, just like when the first generation diesel-electric locomotives displaced steam engines.
