The authority of the Word of God has been questioned ever since the garden of Eden's when the serpent spoke those words to Eve: "Did God really say?" (Genesis 3:1) When that same serpent tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus used the authority of Scripture. All three times Jesus used these three words: "It is written."
