Hey everybody, Kurt Francom coming to you from Williams, Arizona.Yes, this is in the mountains.
This isn’t your typical Arizona so it’s cold in the morning here.
But I wanted to take a moment to share a message.
I’m not necessarily in front of my computer to type something out.
I want to talk about truth.
I want you to think about the platforms that you’re consuming online.
A lot of good stuff.
A lot of content, but it takes my mind to a quote by Tim Keller and he said this:
“Love without truth is sentimentality. It supports and affirms us but keeps us in denial about our flaws.”
This is one thing I want you to just tune into as you’re consuming content online.
I’m a big grace guy.
Love talking about grace, wrote a whole book on grace, Is God Disappointed in Me?
It’s so crucial to talk about love and grace and acceptance, the love of God.
And it propels us.
It propels us into a gospel, propels us and orients us to God.
But be aware of those platforms.
We try to make this Leading Saints platform not hyper-focused on only talking about love.
Love isn’t everything but so often individuals refuse to reconcile the truth side of the spectrum.
They’ve refused to reconcile, how do covenants fit into all this love?
Or are they too restrictive?
And what about commandments?
Let’s be clear and condemn sin.
That sin will corrupt your soul and lead you away from God.
And so that’s my message today, as you articulate the gospel amongst your family, your ward, your classes, whatever it is you teach.
We’ve got to really build and lay a foundation of love and acceptance while also establishing truth and how it all reconciles with covenants, commandments, the laws.
And that combination is actually quite sanctifying.
It propels people further because, yes, people need to feel love.
They need to feel that affirmation and that acceptance.
But if they don’t meet truth on the other side, they have nothing to do with that love.
They don’t know what to do with it.
And if they find that truth, it will propel them into sanctification and helping us all become more like our Heavenly Father.
Sincerely,
Kurt Francom
