Chicago’s Thanksgiving Parade has gone through several iterations in its 87 years, including not being held on Thanksgiving; it was more of a holiday parade that straddled Thanksgiving and Christmas. Well, after taking last year off because of the pandemic, the parade is back on State Street on Thursday. The organizers who run the parade are mainly volunteers who just love the event and want to see the joy it brings people. We talk to one of those dedicated organizers about the parade’s history, and what’s planned for this year.
