In the time of Malachi, marriages in Israel had degenerated to the point where divorce was becoming common and acceptable. Their faithlessness was really an extension of their faithlessness with God. Malachi’s message to Israel to return to God and be faithful in their marriage is as relevant and challenging now as it was back then.
