Bruce Kirkby’s no stranger to adventure—but taking along small children and living in a Buddhist monastery was something altogether different from his usual high-adrenaline exploits. Seeking an escape from modern life, they traveled to Zanskar, in northern India—slowly—by container ship, train and overland trekking. They lived there three months, learned a new way of life, and grew closer to one another.
