Our first segment we speak to Professor Laetitia Rispel a South African Professor of Public Health at the University of the Witwatersrand. Rispel's work has investigated health policy and management and health services research. Wits University recently hosted a three day convention focusing on decolonising African health systems. The aim of the convention was to provide a platform for conversations to build solidarity across Africa and eradicate colonial-imposed divides in health systems on the continent. In 2018 Professor Rispel was elected president of the World Federation of Public Health Associations making her the first woman from Africa. The WFPHA is an international non-governmental organisation bringing together public health professionals interested and active in safeguarding and promoting the public’s health. She has just finished her term a few months ago.
