On this week's programme, we are talking to Cherry Mpio about his experiences of living in South Africa. Cherry was born in Brazaville, Congo. He shares his experiences about how fear drove South Africans to treat him differently and to thinking that he was a drug dealer and even calling police to raid his house because they did not know who he is. Once they realised, he had come to this country to study and to make a life for himself. He had been warned about South Africans but chose to get to know them better so they will not fear him. He encourages all to get to know the other, that way changing the way he was viewed. He would not change his experiences of living in South Africa for anything. He still loves South Africa. He regards it as his second home, a place that has contributed to who he is. He has since gotten married and now has a daughter born in South Africa. Join us and Let's Talk About It.
