The BMW ECO PRO TEAM are a group of engineering students from the University of Johannesburg who built a car for the Shell ECO marathon which took place on the 4th of October. The prestigious race has run annually since 1985, although 2015 was only the second year in Africa. Their team won the race and managed to get an efficiency of 343km/kWh. That is about the equivalent of 343km for energy that costs R1. With this efficiency they were able to created the most efficient car in Africa and are ranked among the top 10 globally, according to Shell. The BMW ECO PRO TEAM are hoping to take their prototype vehicle to the International ECO marathon taking place in London 2016. Show them some support by liking their Facebook Page.
