Health experts have warned of an upsurge in non-communicable diseases -- NCDs -- as the world's attention is focused on COVID-19. NCDs are lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, obesity and cancers. They account for about 41 million deaths globally each year. The lockdowns, currently being enforced in different countries around the world, have been blamed for exacerbating life-style diseases due to poor physical exercises and access to healtheir foods.
