Deputy Police Minister Bongani Mkongi has called for a review of corporal punishment in South African schools. He says the current alternative methods of punishing learners are not effective. Mkongi has been speaking at a School Safety Summit in Gauteng, attended by about 3 thousand people including school principals, school governing bodies, parents and the police.
