Health Ombudsman, Professor Malegapuru Makgoba, has recommended that Psychiatrist, Kiran Sukeri, be suspended and charged with gross misconduct for committing scientific fraud. He has also called on Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, to urgently appoint a director of mental health to deal with what he calls the ticking time bomb of mental health in the country. Makgoba has released a report into allegations of patient mismanagement and patient rights violations at the Tower Psychiatric Hospital and Psycho Social Rehabilitation Centre in the Easter Cape.
