A study by pharmaceutical company, Pharma Dynamics, has found that up to sixty percent of antibiotic prescriptions are prescribed inappropriately. Despite knowing that antibiotics are ineffective against viral infections, more than 80% of South African doctors say patients pressurise them into prescribing these medications.
