UPDATE: Angry residents blocked off an intersection on Beyers Naude road with burning tyres and rocks this morning. This has been cleared by the police.

Rent defaulters have been targeted in an eviction operation in Windsor East, in Randburg, west of Johannesburg. The red ants swooped on over 10 properties in the area. Residents fought back by barricading roads with burning debris and rocks, but the protests were soon quelled by police. The residents say they received no communication about the evictions.
