Former Managing Director at Life Esidimeni says they did warn the Gauteng Health Department against the speedy transfers of mentally-ill patients to unidentified NGOs. About a 141 patients died as a result. Dr Morgan Mkhatswa says several children died in 2007, when more than 20 mentally ill children were moved to NGOs, and he did not want a repeat of that experience.
