Residents who face eviction from a dilapidated building in Berea in Johannesburg, have expressed hope that the Constitutional Court will rule in their favour. They presented their arguments in the ConCourt on the 14th of February, seeking the reversal of a 2013 High Court finding that all 184 tenants had agreed to the move. The residents argue that there was no such agreement. They turned to the ConCourt after they were refused permission to appeal against the eviction decision by both the High Court in Johannesburg and the Supreme Court of Appeal.
