Insurance schemes have reported a spike in medical negligence claims. One insurer says they have paid out 20 million rand for one medical malpractice claim. Another insurer has recorded a 27 percent increase in claims in the last six years. In 2015 alone, the insurer dealt with almost three thousand claims.
