The world is currently facing a shortage of 900 000 midwives, who are meant to save and protect pregnant women and newborns.

This is revealed in the 2021 State of World's Midwifery report launched today.

The report is produced by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), the United Nations Population Fund and the World Health Organisation.
