The government of South Africa has indicated its intention to use cell phone data in the fight against COVID-19. The idea is to use location-based services to easily find recent contacts of coronavirus patients in a bid to control the spread of the disease. Worried citizens have had to be assured that there won't be any spying on anyone. Many mobile network operators also had questions around the legality of contact tracing.
