In its latest attempt to tackle a chronic cash shortage, Zimbabwe's central bank has banned cash transactions using mobile money services, amid a surge in prices of goods and services. Many Zimbabweans had resorted to mobile money agencies who were selling cash at a premium which reached 60% recently amid the cash crisis. The ban has left many zimbabweans frustrated with some economists describing it as a major blow to the advent of mobile money and financial inclusion.
