Load-shedding and farming

The Daily Dispatch, an Eastern Cape based prominent newspaper published this very interesting and heartbreaking story on their front page this morning. An Eastern Cape dairy project that has been forced to suspend operations due to load shedding and poor access roads. A project worth millions. It’s in a town called Cofimvaba and supplies milk to multinational food companies. 1200 members are supposed to benefit from this project and just this past October it signed a R75m deal. But, now, it seems things are falling apart.

The Ncora Dairy Trust farm has more than 4000 cows.
