Under The Microscope

Busisiwe Kamolane, the research coordinator at the Centre for Applied Legal Studies based at Wits University says it is time for the state to recognise that the repression of ac-tivists in South Africa has reached crisis mode. She argues that the the violent police re-sponse to the recent student protests is a sobering reminder of how the brutalisation of ac-tivists across the country persists.

She also mentions that there’s a widespread failure to hold to account the perpetrators of violence against activists.
