Teacher training and development has emerged as one of the key issues at the Northern Cape's first education summit held in Kimberley. The summit was called by the education department following a 7% decline in the province's matric results in 2015. The results showed that the Northern Cape had achieved a pass rate of 69% in 2015 - down from 76% in 2014. Northern Cape Department of Education MEC, Martha Bartlett says they are working together with the stakeholders to ensure that all key resolutions are implemented.
