The community of Wrenchville near Kuruman in the Northern Cape is fuming after a woman who is facing child abuse and assault charges was granted bail in the Kuruman Magistrate's Court. The 40 year old woman allegedly beat her seven year old step child with a sjambok and burnt him with boiling water. The court heard that the burn wounds on the child were two weeks old and the sjambok inflicted wounds were a week old when the child was taken to hospital. She has just been granted a bail of two- thousand rand. The case has been postponed to the 24th of June.
