• The plumbing industry is one that is important for our day-to-day lives, yet it is looked down upon with some viewing it as a dirty job that is meant for a certain group of people.
• According to a plumbing survey conducted in 2020 by the Institute of Plumbing South Africa and the Plumbing Industry Registration Board, there were approximately 126 000 people who identified as plumbers in 2019, of that total, only 10 000 to 15 000 are qualified plumbers.
• The survey also revealed that women make  up 2% of the plumbing population, with women between the ages of 40-50 being the most.
