Today marks a year that the first Covid 19 case landed in South Arfica.

The first Covid-19 case was recorded on March 5 2020. The patient was a 38-year-old male who had travelled to Italy with his wife as part of a group of 10 people who had arrived in the country four days earlier.
On March 28, the health ministry announced the first Covid-related death.
On January 13 2021 the country recorded its highest death toll in a single day - clocking in 806 new Covid-19 related deaths in 24 hours.
SA breached the 1-million cases mark on December 27 and a day earlier the country entered the top 20 list of countries with the highest infections.
