2017 Dimension Data stats indicated that 42% of all South African companies had employees working from home on a full-time basis.
Another company also reported that up to 75% of South Africans that work from home feel like they’re much more productive in a home office environment than they would be in an open office.
But with the national lockdown prompted by COVID-19 those numbers changed drastically.
Working from home has made both employers and their staff realise the value of flexibility, raising the stakes for a hybrid option going forward that allows for time in the office and makes provision for remote work. But what will this look like in practice?
