Zille responds to Twitter outrage over tax revolt
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille caused outrage on Twitter after
she said she would organise a tax revolt.
Zille took to Twitter on Saturday and threatened to organise a tax

revolt if those implicated in the Zondo Commission of Inquiry aren't
prosecuted in a reasonable time.
"I'm waiting to see how many people get prosecuted and land in jail
in a reasonable amount of time after the Zondo commission. If they
do not, just watch me. I will be organising the #TaxRevolt", she
wrote.
Many people on social media expressed their shock and
outrage over Zille's comments.
The premier quickly responded and reminded people that there is a
tax revolt already underway in the country.
"This hysteria about my proposal for a tax revolt is fascinating. SA
history has a variety of tax revolts from the Bambata rebellion to the
E-Tolls Boycott -- a classic example of refusing to pay a state-
imposed tax", she added
