Special Guest: AUBREY POO
Aubrey Poo is a South African actor, singer, presenter, creative director and producer
with fifteen years of experience in the South African theatre, television and film
industry.
Trained in theatre at Pro Arte Alphen Park High and Pretoria Technikon, this versatile
actor boasts a Vita Award for Best Newcomer 2001 and four Naledi Awards
nominations for Best Performance by a male lead in a musical since 2008…and most
recently a Fleur du Cap win in 2015 for his role lead role in Oprheus in Africa! His most
notable theatre credits/roles are Vuyani in Soweto Story, Tom Collins in Rent, Curtis
Taylor Jr. in Dreamgirls (SA and USA Tour), Mandela 2 in Mandela Trilogy,
Commander Nyoka in Marikana The Musical and most recently Orpheus McAdoo in
David Kramer’s Orpheus in Africa. He has recently returned to Isidingo to reprise the
role of the much loved Pastor Gabriel.

The Color Purple the musical is presented by Joburg Theatre and Bernard Jay on the
stage of The Nelson Mandela Theatre at Joburg Theatre. The season continues until
