Lisa Vetten has worked in the field of violence against women for almost 30 years, first as a counsellor and paralegal, and then as a researcher, activist and occasional drafter of policy. She is currently a Mellon Doctoral candidate at the Wits City Institute. Her PhD seeks to provide a critical history of rape in South Africa.
Lisa has been immersed in the field of violence against women in so many different roles that it has given an unusual depth and scope to her understanding of social attitudes towards violence in general — and the many forms of violence against women in particular
