It’s well documented that post-partum depression (being depressed after childbirth) is a serious and not uncommon condition. In some women, it can lead to post-partum psychosis, which has a range of symptoms such as delusions or strange beliefs, hallucinations, extreme irritation, restlessness, reckless behaviours that aren’t usual for the person, decreased need for sleep or the inability to sleep, paranoia, rapid mood swings and difficulty communicating.
