Covenants were ancient contracts, agreements, binding relationships, and transactions. As we have read in Genesis, covenants were how Yahweh developed relationships with humans. In covenants both parties have obligations. Even though people do not always hold to their promises, God continues to be faithful.

However, the God of Second Chances not only seeks relationship with humans, but eagerly desires to celebrate this covenant through sacrifice, meals, and fellowship. This is also reflected in Jesus' last meal with his disciples and communion with us today.
