Jeff sits down with Ron Drabkin and Ann Francis to discuss how OpenEd is revolutionizing the way educators provide creative lesson plans to their students using the OpenEd platform on their desktop and mobile devices.
About OpenEd
OpenEd.io is the largest K-12 educational resource library, offering more than a million free assessments, homework assignments, videos, games and lesson plans for every Common Core Math, Language Arts, Literacy and Next Generation Science standard. OpenEd makes it easy for teachers to find and assign resources by providing pre-built lesson plans (list of videos, assessments and homework) for every grade and subject. Teachers can modify these lesson plans or create their own. The vast majority of OpenEd Resources are free.
Common Core Quest, OpenEd’s free app, is available for Apple, Android and Chrome. It allows students to take quizzes to demonstrate mastery of Common Core Math and English Language Arts skills and earn badges for each category. When students don’t achieve mastery, the app recommends videos and games to learn the precise microconcepts they are struggling with. The net result is universal personalized learning for each student. Common Core Quest is used by students, parents and tutors outside of the formal classroom.
OpenEd’s awards include the 2014 “Best in Show” award for the assessment tool from ISTE, 2014 Trendsetter award for the Open Source Catalog from EdTech Digest, and the 2014 Awards of Excellence from Tech & Learning.

About our Guests
Ann Francis, Special-Education Teacher, Buffalo Prairie Middle School, Buffalo, Missouri
A special-education teacher for 9 years, Ann teaches reading, writing, social studies and social skills for students in grades 5-8. In this small, rural Missouri school of 600 students – in a district of 1,700 – technology is limited, and few of her students have Internet access at home. She holds a master’s degree in special education from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wayland University.
Ron Drabkin, Vice President of Marketing, OpenEd
Ron has held VP Marketing and Business Development positions including JRG Software, where he was co-founder, and JustAnswer.com. After many years in high tech, he transitioned to education by working with educators to start up a new innovative public high school called Design Tech High School. He has degrees from Duke University and the University of California-Berkeley.
