In my regular review of the past 7 days I look at the progress I have made this week and the key themes that have emerged.  These include:

  • The recognition I need to go deeper to start addressing the challenges that are behind a depressive state of mind.
  • Whether I need to address the ghosts of the past or just learn to manage the problems of the present.
  • Understanding how much of a pessimist/optimist I am.
  • A better understanding of the relationship between learned helplessness, optimism, pessimism, explanatory style and rumination.
  • A realisation that it is quite possible my susceptibility to depression can be cured.
  • Pessimism isn't necessarily a bad thing.
  • Another touch point from the NHS - they've been in touch - though don't hold your breath.
