Typically people celebrate Diwali by giving people sweets...
Spending time with family or loved ones…
Taking time off...
While all are important, I also look at these 3 things which make me happy...
1. Giving to others
For the last 3-4 years, every Diwali I’d either go to orphanages to distribute food and spend time with them…
Or finding the street vendors and giving them surprises…
Or distributing foods, packets and blankets for the poor people...etc
The reason why I’m doing all these is because…
Giving is true living.
It gives me inner joy and fulfilment that I’m able to help others.
And what I also realised is that the only way you can contribute more and help more people…
Is to BECOME more as a person.
Whether it’s financially…
Whether it’s emotionally…
Whether it’s physically…
How can you give if you don't have any?
Alright next…
2. I set my intention and goals for the next year...
Every Diwali, I think to myself…
This is the beginning of a new year.
Where do I want to be in the next 1 year?
I then break my goals into 5 different categories including...
Health
Family
Finances
Impact
Business
For example in health…
Last year I’ve set my goal to be - turning myself a vegan
Why?
Because I did a lot of research and found out veganism is the best diet as per our biology…
And after turning vegan… my energy levels have gone up dramatically…
I’m able to work longer hours and still feel very active and alive.
So that’s a goal that I had...
This year I’m setting my intention that I want to be able to live till 121 years old!
So my health needs to support me on that…
My health goals for this year are…
I’m going to have more water-based foods, (fruits and more vegetables)...
Continue to follow the health routine I set up for myself religiously...
And wake up early!
This is especially difficult for me because I’m a night owl.
So following the natural rhythm of nature, waking up when the sunrise…
Is going to be something I need to improve on.
One thing to keep in mind is that...
If you’re not growing, you’re dying.
Without goals, we can’t grow.
Because whatever that we focus on - expands!
Last thing...
3. Setting my “self-education investment” goals
Last year I was investing money into learning about how to scale the company and improve our marketing…
We went from a 2.5+ Cr. company to a 16 Cr. company in 1 year...
This year I’m going to learn not just scaling, but also the business strategy that brings more and better stability to the company.
Also I’m going to learn a lot more about leadership, like hiring and retaining the best leaders…
This upcoming 1 year, my plan is to spend roughly 1 Cr. in self-development, my own education.
If you think about this…
When we talk about goals...
Most people only have their goals in “earning”...
But how many people have “learning goals”?
If you don’t learn, how would you grow?
And if you don’t grow, how would you increase your capability to earn more?
