I had a teenager that was constantly "talking back" to me. For a while, it drove me absolutely CRAZY! I told myself it meant all sorts of things like he didn't respect me as a mother, he thought he was smarter than me, etc. But I came to realize, he was simply expressing himself. He was trying to be understood just like I was.

Once I made this shift in my mind, I realized just how valuable this skill of questioning and trying to understand for himself was. And I LOVE the independent adult he has turned out to be! And through this process, I was able to teach and model (and learn for myself) how to have respectful conversations when you disagree with someone. Maybe having a child who "talks back" isn't so bad after all!

P.S. I have some summer coaching spots open! We can be super flexible with scheduling. Email me at christi@christidaviscoaching.com or DM me on Instagram to learn more about my program!
