Have you reached your limit or are you on a verge of a nervous breakdown? You could be experiencing burnout. God desires all of us to have rest and recovery. The Bible says in Genesis 2:2-3 NIV, “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” The word rest means Shabbat which means to stop. God stopped(rested) and set his day apart for us. As a result, we all need to stop and get the proper recovery and rest for our emotional, mental, and physical health. It is very important to meet the emotional needs of your spouse. It brings unity, intimacy and stability in your marriage. While we focus first on our vertical commitment to God, then our horizontal commitment goes to our spouse. God gives us the ability to love our spouse His way and He knows the needs our spouse better than us! Marriage is a blessing, if you are willing to put the work into it. You have two different worlds coming together to form one entity in God. It is better for worse…right? There is “relationship”baggage or trauma that we bring into our marriages that could weigh it down. Men and women are just two broken people coming together sometimes. If we do not address our baggage with our spouses, our marriages can head to oblivion. But with God all things are possible. He created marriage, so He can resurrect it and make it alive again.

Realizing Everything Starts with Trusting God. In order for you to reset, refresh and restore it starts with allowing God to be first in our lives. According to Genesis 1, God rested on the 7th day and made it holy which is called Sabbath. Sabbath is a Hebrew Word: Shabbat which means to “rest” This is after He made man, earth and everything on it. We will discuss the importance of taking a REST and how it provides the opportunity to reset. What perimeters are you putting in place to rest? Let’s spend more time in the presence of our Father, more time with family, and more time escaping the hustle and bustle of this world. Temperance comes from the Greek word egkrateia, meaning strength, not physical strength, but inward strength that helps us to make the best choices. This strength can only come from our daily dedication to obtaining and maintaining the other fruits of the Spirit detailed in Galatians 5. It’s only from God we can have self control in the midst of a trial, difficulty or under immense pressure. When things get out of control at times in our lives, God is able to give us His peace therefore allowing us to exhibit self control and be rooted in His peace. Biblical meekness is not weakness but exercising self control and patience from God. Meekness is a quiet strength.
