Figure 1 (below) shows you both the lead guitar part and the rhythm guitar part in the intro. The lead guitar part starts with a chord which is often referred to as the Jimi Hendrix chord (D7#9). That chord is held for 5 counts and is followed by the picked notes which make up the main lead guitar riff. That lead guitar riff is found throughout the song but played without the initial chord (D7#9). The rhythm guitar part starts in bar 3 and consists of a simple rhythm made up up of crotchets (quarter notes) and quavers (eighth notes).
Figure 2 (below) shows you the chords and rhythm played in verse 1. Verse 2 is similar but shorter in size. Play the chord progression in the verses using alternate up and down strums.
Figure 3 (below), shows you the first pre-chorus and chorus in the song. The pre-chorus starts with one strum of chord B minor held for 4 counts (one semibreve). That, is followed by another bar consisting of one strum of chord G which is also held for four counts. The chorus and outro consist of chords G, A and D. Note the held note (tie) in the middle of the bar with chord D. The other choruses and outro in the song are similar to the first chorus but do not finish with a semibreve of chord D.
