Watford host Millwall on Boxing Day in the Sky Bet Championship (Monday December 26, 12noon KO), looking to make amends for the defeat to the Lions back in October.

The Hornets will be eyeing all three points at The Vic, and will be hoping to win their individual contests. Ahead of the encounter, here are some of the key battles to keep an eye on.

Keinan Davis has scored four goals for the Hornets so far this season, and has been vital in the attacking system. He was one of the busier forwards last week against Huddersfield Town, and although he didn’t score, he attempted the most shots in the match (4).

For Millwall, Jake Cooper leads most defensive stats, including clearances (63), blocks (13) and interceptions (32). He is also top for most passes attempted (833) and passes in his own half (471). This will be a good physical battle to watch throughout the game on and off the ball.

After recently breaking into the team, Tom Dele-Bashiru has shown a lot of quality in the middle of the park. He executed a wonderful assist last week for João Pedro’s first goal, picking the ball up in his own half and driving towards the penalty area.

The Lions’ top marksman, Zian Flemming, has scored nine goals this season so far from midfield, including two direct free-kicks. Flemming also leads the way for number of shots on target (23) and off target (23) for the Lions. He has been Millwall’s top man this season, and will be looking to add to his impressive stats on Monday.

This will be a very interesting match-up to keep an eye on with Dele-Bashiru being more of a box-to-box midfielder, whereas Flemming plays in a more offensive position. The Millwall man may be forced to do some more defensive duties, to cope with Dele-Bashiru’s attacking ability.

Craig Cathcart has been one of Watford’s most consistent defenders this season, with impressive performances against the top attackers in the league - keeping clean sheets against league leaders Burnley and Sheffield United. He also has the most blocks in the team, with 13.

Elsewhere, Lions marksman Tom Bradshaw bagged a hat-trick against the Hornets back in October, and during their last game against Wigan he assisted their only goal of the match in a 1-1 draw. The duo of Flemming and Bradshaw is one to watch, as they will likely be the main force against the Watford backline on Monday.
