The Hornets host Millwall at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day (Monday December 26, 12noon KO), as Slaven Bilić’s charges aim for two wins on the bounce in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ahead of the fixture against Gary Rowett’s Lions, we look at the statistical context of Watford’s upcoming encounter.

Watford have won five of their last six home games against Millwall (D1), including a promotion-clinching 1-0 victory in 2021, keeping four clean sheets in this run since a 2-0 loss in March 2006.

Following their 3-0 win at The Den in October, Millwall are looking to complete the league double over Watford for the first time since the 2001/2002 campaign.

The Hornets are unbeaten in their last four league games, and have kept a clean sheet each time. It’s their longest run in the Football League without conceding since a five-game stretch in November-December 2001.

Millwall haven’t won an away league game on Boxing Day since 2006 (4-1 v Brentford), drawing two and losing four of their six such games since then.

Only Huddersfield (five) have picked up fewer points on the road in the Championship this season than Millwall (nine), while they could lose as many as 12 away league games in a calendar year for the first time since 2013.

The Lions’ top marksman, Zian Flemming, has scored nine goals this season so far from midfield, including two direct free-kicks. Flemming also leads the number of shots on target (23) and off target (23).

Wing-back Scott Malone is the top assister for Millwall with four, while also topping crosses attempted (94). Defensive midfielder Billy Mitchell has attempted the most passes in the opposition half (487), while 21-year-old Tyler Burey leads the charge with the most dribbles attempted (43).

Defensively, Jake Cooper leads the majority of stats including clearances (63), blocks (13) and interceptions (32). He also is top for most passes attempted (833) and passes in his own half (471).
