Following the signing of Scotsman Ryan Porteous from Hibernian late last week, we take a look at some of the stats, facts and figures that surround the defender’s career so far.

18 years, 7 months and 6 days – The age that Porteous made his first league appearance for his boyhood club. This came during a 3-0 away win against Kilmarnock, with the youngster being subbed on in the 75th minute.

113 – The total number of appearances Porteous made for Hibernian in regular Scottish Premiership seasons. He also featured four times in top-six split games, and three times in relegation rounds. Having risen through the youth ranks at Hibs, Porteous made over 150 senior appearances in total.

17 – The number of goals Porteous has scored so far in his career. Three of them have come already this season against Rangers, Ross County and Motherwell.

20 – The number of games this season that Porteous played the full 90-minutes for Hibs. The defender had been virtually an ever-present this campaign, only missing one match due to suspension and being substituted with 10 minutes left to play in the other.

1 – Cap for the Scottish men’s national team. The promising centre-back recently started his first game for his country in September 2022, playing the full 90 minutes in a Nations League goalless draw against Ukraine. Scotland boss Steve Clarke described his performance as “outstanding”.

9 – The number of European games that Porteous has played in. This includes five Europa League qualifying matches and four Europa Conference League qualifiers.

15,588 – The number of minutes played throughout his career. The 23-year-old comes to The Vic with a lot of experience, having played in nine different competitions so far.

24 – The number of appearances Porteous made for his temporary club FC Edinburgh - then known as Edinburgh City - during the 2016/17 campaign. His one and only spell away from Hibernian came with Edinburgh on loan, where he enjoyed plenty of game time.
